The Entrepreneur / Profession libérale long-stay visa and residence permit are intended for those planning to carry out independent commercial, artisanal or liberal professional activity in France. We handle the long-stay visa application when it is filed from outside France, as well as the issue, renewal or change of status within France where the law allows.
Application is possible both from within France and from abroad, depending on your current situation and residence status.
Types of Activity
- Activité libérale — liberal professions (consultants, IT specialists, doctors, lawyers)
- Activité commerciale — commercial activity (only when changing status in France)
- Activité artisanale / métier — craft activity (only when changing status in France)
Important: If applying outside France, only activité libérale format is possible through the consulate. Commercial and craft activities are only possible when changing status already in France.
Validity and Renewal
Initially, the Entrepreneur permit is issued for 1 year. Then, with confirmed integration, real activity, and A2 language requirements:
- Renewal for 2 years
- Then another 2 years
- After 5 years — right to resident card (10 years) and citizenship
